The journal DCCR (year 2016, no. 113)  has published an article by Christine Heeb entitled "Contracts via the internet - some specific issues relating to electronic commerce, consumer protection and intermediaries”.

Electronic commerce has been expanding vigorously for a considerable time now. More and more people are ordering goods or services online for their private use. The internet remains the most important channel of communication, and the ´classic´ webshop is still the primary tool for trading these goods and services.

In the article, the author discusses several challenges entailed by this new form of commerce. On the one hand, there is an attempt to protect the buyers, while on the other one wishes to avoid unnecessarily limiting and restraining innovation. The various layers of the regulatory framework are addressed. Atty Heeb also focuses on a number of important sectors where special issues remain concerning consumers and electronic commerce: the online purchasing of goods, the online travel organisation and online real estate brokerage.
